“Finally!!..Spring has Sprung!!”

Spring! Finally!! Just when I’d about almost given up hope, Spring is here at “La Maison de la Princesse Magique Petite de Chaton”. At last. Sigh…. Soooo darn warm… Snow disappearing… birds returning… greenery, well… “greening”… :)

Now there’s mud to deal with of course. And flooding here and there. But, by jiminy, I’ll take it!! I’ll take all of it I can get.

This of course also means that I’m getting busy again, both at work and at home, so that’s why I’ve fallen back on posting again. But… it hasn’t been for lack of wanting to be here, so with a Friday afternoon to myself I thought I’d at least make a quick “Diary” post to let all my Gentle Visitors in on recent news and developments hereabout. Ready for that? Well… here goes! :)

Firstly… as you can see by the little “countdown” widget on the Sidebar, the “Big Day” is rapidly approaching. Things are coming together… at last, and both Carolyn and I are getting anxious and nervy for it to just hurry up and get here!! The biggest development is that we’ve finally found just that perfect spot for our private lil’ “unofficial” ceremony to be held. Yay! A lovely little place near a nice wilderness area, Blue Mountain Lake, a couple of hours away. With a meadow… overlooking the lake… that my imagination tells me will be green with grass and wildflowers in about a month. (Crossing my fingers!!)

There will easily be enough space for the few guests we’ve invited… the entire group will number only 30 or so… I soooo wish Carolyn’s Mom and dad were among them, but sadly that’s just not going to happen. Sandra passed along the news to us just last week after trying to talk them into coming one last time. She did her best… but got a fairly chilly rebuff to her attempts to make them see this was going to be what Carolyn wanted her life to be. In a guilty way, I’m kind of glad… at least that means no ugly scene to ruin things for us on our “Special Day”. But still… I know my sweet Carolyn is hurt by it, and the knowledge that this marriage pretty much means the end of things between her and her parents from this day onwards. Ok… Ok… That just means I’ll have to be twice the loving wife she deserves for the rest of her life to make it right. That I can do…. (Breathe, Miyuki…. Breathe… Everything will work itself out. )

It’ll be weird having my Mom and Dad there but not hers. Mom has been just amazing since we “came out”. Not a week has passed without a call from her to find out how “her girls” are doing. She’s gone above and beyond to support Carolyn and let her know that she’s a most welcome addition to our family, even if our relationship leaves her confused at times. She assumed that we were lesbians when we told her we were a couple…. and I think that she was surprised to find neither of us really identifies that way. It was kind of surreal explaining to her that Carolyn certainly wasn’t… that she considers herself bisexual… and me… I mostly feel like I’m an ordinary “straight” woman most of the time. Except that I have a very, very feminine lover and soul-mate that I do absolutely love more than anything or anyone else in the whole darn world. To her credit, Mom seems comfortable with the whole situation in a way I would never have imagined even if the right “Label” still escapes me.

Ahhhhh… and although it’s late this year… (Yeah… Thanks loads, stupid Winter…. :( ) yours truly has finally caught her annual dose of “Spring Fever”. But…. nearly a month later than normal. I almost didn’t realize it. I did notice myself sleeping badly lately… needing to prowl about the apartment at odd hours the last couple weeks, but I just chalked that up to nervousness over our wedding looming in the approaching future. Carolyn though… she knew exactly what was up…. the return of my Seasonal Insomnia and the quixotic see-saw of my moods ’round about this season are pretty darn familiar to her by now after all these years. She said she’d been aware of it for about a week. I’ve been fidgety and extra restless in bed, much to her dismay, and as is usually the case it’s been nearly impossible for her to quiet me down with a nice snuggly hug like she usually can. My poor Carolyn… she really is a Saint to put up with all my odd quirks….

So…. Hmmmm? What else to mention? Ahhhh!! Our dresses! There we’ve lucked out… in about the craziest way possible. We both wanted the whole “Brides in Virginal White” look. (Now, now…no funny looks o’ Gentle Visitors… it’s the thought that counts. :-P ) That meant looking high and low for just the “perfect” gowns. Something that had us going nuts until Sam casually said in her very observant and ever so frugal way, “Why don’t you both just wear those pretty white dresses we had for Halloween? You both looked so gorgeous in them and haven’t worn either of them since then…..”

Victorian VeilUmmmm? D’uhhh!! She was right! Minus all the “Brides of Dracula” extras, those two gowns are just about the prettiest thing both of us have in our wardrobes. And they even look like fantastic wedding gowns…. That got “cosplay” lil me thinking how to properly accessorize them, and it wasn’t long before I worked out that just adding some adorable lacy veils and bouquets would be perfect (as well as ever so thrifty!!). We’d look great… celebrate fun times in an “in joke” of our own, and save some money that can certainly be better spent on a nice Honeymoon trip together. Gotta love that! I fell in love with some gorgeous Victorian Chapel length ones… but as pretty as they are, they really aren’t practical for an outdoorsy wedding and would get ruined easily. I think I can get a similar look with a waist length one and still keep that fairytale feeling to it. I soooo want that feeling…. (Remember… silly… in this wee Catgirl’s rather vivid imagination, I secretly am a “Princess”… even if “reality” says otherwise.;) )

So I guess that’s the current state of things. But don’t worry. Busy lil’ me hasn’t forgotten our “End Of The World As We Know It” film festival here at the Litterbox. Nope. I’ve still got a couple more lined up to do before the month ends, including the Korean pandemic film “The Flu”, and a couple of Spanish apocalypse ones, “Los Últimos Días” aka “The Last Days” and “Fin” aka “The End”. With luck, I ought to get at least one of those up by the weekend. No promises though…You know how those usually go. ;)
